New Orleans is known for Bourbon Street and Jazz music but there is so much more to see while you're in town celebrating a girls weekend or a bachelorette weekend! Don't get me wrong, both Bourbon Street and Jazz music are on the list, but there are several places you should be sure to check out while you're in town.
Friday Night: get into town, get settled, then hit the streets. Friday we're going big. Have a nice fancy dinner in the French Quarter--try Galatoires if you're ready to ball out, Coop's Place if you're not trying to break the bank, or Tujague's if you're looking for something in the middle. After dinner grab a frozen Irish Coffee at Molly's at the Market if you're feeling sleepy from your heavy cajun meal. From here if you're still feeling classy head a few doors down for a cocktail at Cane and Table, or if you're ready to get a little less proper walk the few blocks to Bourbon Street. It smells. It's crowded. We know. While on Bourbon be sure to check out the dueling piano bar at Pat O'Brien's and the oldest bar in America: Lafitte's. Meander the bars, make bad decisions, head to bed.
Saturday morning you're feeling not your finest, but don't fret! The only cure for this is brunch. Head to The Country Club in the Bywater neighborhood for poolside drag brunch or to Surrey's Uptown for BYOB classic southern brunch (don't worry, there is a bar next door or a corner store a couple blocks down to fill your Bloody Mary/Mimosa need). After brunch it's time to explore. Check out an above ground cemetery, gallery hop on Royal Street, kayak on the bayou, or step back in time at the famous World War II Museum. After spending your day checking out the city head to Bacchanal for wine, cheese, and live music. Then to Frenchmen Street we go! Time to hop between jazz bars until your heart's content. Hungry for a late night snack? Grab something at Dat Dog!
Sunday is the ideal day to stroll Jackson Square, check out St. Louis Cathedral, and shop at the French Market. Don't forget to grab beignets and coffee from Cafe Du Monde before leaving town!
